This will be my first phone and I have some questions for you guys. Right now I'm using my aunts assurance phone.

- Can I buy the phone at retail price without a specific carrier?
- Which carrier would be cheapest to use but still have good quality and coverage?
- I see on walmart site that their selling it for $400 on tmobile with 2 year plan, but didnt tmobile get rid of contracts.
Samsung Galaxy S 4 Black Mist for T-Mobile - Walmart Wireless
- Is straight talk better to use?

I'm about to attend college and will be living on my own, could you guys recommend cheapest network?

You're currently using someone else's taxpayer provided phone, which is supposed to be there for emergencies, and you're asking for advice about a top of the line, latest-and-greatest $400+ smartphone?

Buy whatever you want, but stop stealing my hard earned money.

Unless you know which cellular network you plan to use, I advise against buying the phone now.

For instance, T-Mobile & At&t use GSM networks and Sprint & Verizon use CDMA networks. The two technologies (networks) are not compatible.

Q. Where can I buy an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S 4:

Google unveils Samsung Galaxy S 4 running stock Android Jelly Bean, available June 26th for $649

I would go the prepaid route first. Try T-Mobile, not sure how they perform where you live though.
