For a while, I haven’t been receiving aural notifications for text messages on my cellphone (iPhone 11).

My phone is not silenced.
I have checked in notifications in Settings and “notifications” are indeed on/enabled for text messages.
My phones’ speakers work.

Any ideas?

When I google for the problem, all I see is turn on notifications, which I have done.

I suggest you go into the Settings menu and check the sound setting for the ringtone. Try playing the currently set ringtone. I have helped folks who actually didn't have any ringtone or ring volume set and as a result, never heard their phone when calls were received. Another setting to check is if the phone is set for vibrate only.

Yeah, I did that. I already had an alert tone set. But I picked another. When I picked it it sounded, but when someone sent me a test text. I heard nothing.

I also compared all my setting under messages with my husband’s settings. They are all exactly the same and he doesn’t have this problem.

I solved it! I had Do Not Disturb turned on and it was set for
12am to 12am — that is all the time.

The weird thing is, I know for a fact that I didn’t set this. So why was it set that way?

Glad you figured it out. Saved yourself a trip to either a retail store or a long call to customer support. Could have changed after some type of phone update. I can only speculate.

Could you have done it by accident somehow?
