I just noticed that while texting few friends that on my android phone text messages have a lock next to each text message. Clicking on it tells me that it's new google encryption, anyone else get that? Is it really an encryption and Google can't read it or just a gimmick?

It's truly encryption but only between people using the same app. So only on those conversation with the padlock.
