Starting December 8th, (today), T-Mobile will offer the Motorola Moto G 5G for free (via 24mo EIP and bill credits) when you trade in any phone, including old or obsolete devices, even if the device is damaged or cracked.
My spouse and I have been on T-Mobile 5G since July 2022 (after switching over from their 4G service) and their 5G rollout is currently very spotty, even in a major metropolitan market like the San Francisco Bay Area.
In certain areas, such as in my home, 5G performance is about the same as 4G. In other areas with solid coverage, 5G is excellent.
My signal indication on my iPhone 13 constantly changes from 5G UC (Ultra Capacity) to 5G and even LTE (4G) once in a while.
So, your location matters on what type of performance you will see. T-Mobile still has some work to do.
Makes sense. They would prefer to move more customers to the newer 5G networks and this is a good way to accomplish that.
Part of the 5g conspiracy?
This has nothing to do with "getting people on 5G" and everything to do with "stealing customers from the other guys". You are reading way too much into this being a 5G phone. They are all 5G phones nowadays.
Everyone is offering trades, though. I traded in a Pixel 3A+ to Verizon. They were offering $150. Mine was cracked. They offered $144. For a cracked phone. They just want customers in contracts. Period.
I will second that question. I don't see any benefit since 5G phones will use 4G when 5G networks are unavailable. Kind of like insisting on using a 3G or 2G phone because you don't like those new-fangled phones.
I dunno...I guess I am hesitant about 5G for various reasons......
If I could have one on 4G most of the time,I would def want it to be
You can. An iphone, for example, lets you turn off 5G if you desire. I’,m sure other phones allow it too.
