I have a Blackberry Bold that I used several years ago with several email accounts added to the phone. Now the device is offline due to not using any wireless service. I want to delete the email accounts from the device before giving it away.

I've not been able to delete any email account from the home screen (although it was easy to add or delete email accounts back then when there was active wireless service). I've tried the following (to delete the email accounts) but to no avail:

1) Select the email account icon (to be removed) and open the menu associated with it. The only relevant menu item seems "Options". See the first two attached screenshots.

When I select "Options", it shows "Home Screen Preferences". There doesn't seem any option to delete the email accounts (in "Home Screen Preferences"). See the 3rd-5th attachments.

2) Select Setup -> Email Accounts. If I recall, here is where any email account was added or deleted. However, when I select it, it gives a message "Your connection to the wireless network is turned on but you are not in a wireless coverage area." When I select "Skip", it gives a message "Your device had a problem connecting to the server." See the last three attachments.

Would appreciate advice for getting the email accounts removed from the phone!

Try the internet site for RIM (Research in Motion), aka Blackberry: https://www.blackberry.com/us/en/company/overview for troubleshooting. I hope that helps as I can't answer your question myself.

Another thought would be to do a complete reset of the device.

Best wishes.

Thanks for pointing to this site! I'll check it out.

I'm not ready to do a complete reset yet, in case I may have files in the device that I should save. I'll use it as a last resort.

Only other option is to use WiFi, but TBH, I think RIM completely shut down all wireless service (not just cellular access) for legacy Blackberries.

I'd check it for files and just wipe it. It's useless at this point - no reason to try and keep anything on it or use it.

You are correct in that RIM shuts down the wireless service. Although I'm able to connect the device to WIFI, I continue to get the message "Your device had a problem connecting to the server."

Seems that I'll have to do a reset of everything (in order to delete the email accounts).
