"If your not of the solution your part of the problem"
If I could return my Whirlpool fridge I bought 3 months ago I would - What I can and will do is get on their website and tell them what I think of them receiving almost 40 million dollars of grant money only to outsource and shut down a factory -

No, it is out there....there are several websites that list all of the Made in the US items.

Yeah, but that's exactly my point, ChromeKitty. You're hard pressed to find USA made in stores; you have to go to websites to find it.
It's out there, but it's hard to find and obtain.
And that's REALLY sad....

Disgusting. Where are all the "occupy wall street" protesters? THIS CEO should have them staged at his/her front door!

You can find them, shop your local Mom & Pop shops, shop local and small, you will find it.
Yes, I do agree that it is sad that it is an act of congress to get things made here in our country.

I didn't like Whirlpool appliances before, so this doesn't really change anything. I grew up in a house with a POS Whirlpool dishwasher and fridge that barely made it to 10 years old before needing a new compressor. And of course the house that we bought has... another POS Whirlpool dishwasher that's great at making noise but terrible at actually cleaning anything.

I'm leaning towards Thermador or Miele for the next one.

I had a Whirpool washer and dryer for over 20 years -- three kids -- so it was used...never any problems.

I fear -- if we truly protested every corporation that was offered incentives & that then outsourced out of country, we would have nothing to buy.

You have no more faith than that in the abilities of the people of this nation?

If we as Americans would demand quality over quantity and stop accepting this mediocrity and refused to pay top shelf prices for third rate products/materials then these corporations would have no choice but to bring the jobs back.

And stay the hell out of walmart!

As citizens all we have left is our buying power, send the message that mediocrity is not ok nor is it ok to take advantage of others in their country all for the sake of a dollar. Greed is the downfall of this nation. A nation that builds nothing can not survive.

It's unfortunate but true. Thus the reason I've taken the path I have. I check the label of almost everything I think I *need* to purchase. If it says "made in China" I look on for a substitute.

Out shopping at a couple of local stores on Sunday, I became aware of something I hadn't noticed before. Companies that have US, USA, or America in their names, yet the product is made in...China. For example, a shoe company named "Betsy's of the US"(not the real name of the co.); a decorative sign company which signs its products "Susannah's of Maine" yet there was a tiny "Made in China" sticker. Blech!
