We leave tomorrow for our long-awaited, twice cancelled trip to MP due to a sick dog and a broken foot!

Although I am still in a cast 3 months+ later, we are really looking forward to this SHORT trip (Sat, Sun, Mon).

We will only have 1/2 day Sat due to travel, and until @ 2pm on Monday, due to travel. This is our first trip to MP (we have been to Charleston and Daniel Island once) and we just want to see if it's a possibility for retirement.

We are meeting/touring with a realtor on Sunday.

What other things should we see/do to get a feel for the area? (We are staying at Village Post House and will have a car).

Because time is so short, we are concentrating only on MP, which is where we think we want to be, as it offers us everything we want - hospital, 24 hr vet, good shopping, beaches nearby, and lots of housing.

If we have time to see only one beach (we'd like to see both, but definitely one, as we are big beach people - not so much for laying in the sun, just love beautiful beaches that are not littered with high rise condos), which should it be - IOP or Sullivans?

How is the weather?

Thanks everyone for the earlier restaurant suggestions. Mouth is watering. BTW, does MP have restaurants that serve healthy food? Organic, local, not laden with gravy or fried? That's more our style, although we do love the occaisional indulgence - love Southern food!

I like High Thyme on Sullivan's Island.

You probably could see both beaches but not sure how comfortable you will be walking them. Neither beach is very visible from the road, so you really do need to park and get out and walk around. Shouldn't be a problem during this off season.

I think you probably could do a quick tour of both Isle of Palm and Sullivans, because they are so close to each other.

You probably could do a quick tour of all the must see in Mt. Pleasant -- Shem Creek, Sullivans and Isle of Palm -- in one big loop. Start with crossing Isle of Palm, drive along it to Sullivans and then up Ben Sawyer (which turns into Coleman Blvd.) and end up at Shem Creek for a drink at Reds.

Or just do the Islands on Saturday and on Monday take a tour of the Waterfront Park, Shem Creek, Patriots Point.

Thx. Other than IOP, Sullivans & Shem Creek any must sees on MP? Where is Towne Center? We'd want to know where grocery store, hospital, hardware store, pharmacy are - all things we would need if we live there.

We'll of course walk around Old Village. I think I read there is a good bakery near the Post House?

The bakery might be Village Bakery. If you go there, you can stop at Pitt Street Pharmacy for a shake at the old soda fountain. If you drive to the end of Pitt Street you can park the car and walk to the bridge. It is a beautiful area! You can see the Charleston skyline from there.

I really wouldn't worry too much about finding a grocery store, or any other type of store, because they are everywhere! Within 4 miles from where I live I have 2 Bi-Lo, 3 Harris Teeters, a Piggly Wiggy, a Publix, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's. This is what I love about Mount Pleasant...there is everything right at your fingertips!

Town Centre is on Rte 17, around 5 miles from the base of the Ravenel Bridge.

According to Google it is 138 feet away. I haven't been to the pharmacy yet, but I heard they have good lunch. As an fyi, the pharmacy is not open on Sundays. Actually, several restaurants in Mount Pleasant are not open on Sundays.
