I asked this on another post but thought it would get more attention if it was listed on its own. What are some of the best festivals/events to attend (throughout the year) in Charleston and the surrounding area?

Well this time of the year is the start of the festival season with the Flowertown Festival in Summerville and the Cajun Festival at James Island County Park. There are numerous ones throughout the year with the majority being during the fall like the Shutzen Festival in Erhart, the Grits Festival, Railroad Days Festival, etc....

I love the Mac-Off in October.
Farmer's Market on Marion Square Saturday mornings always feels like a festival.

And of course, the Christmas Holiday Festival of Lights -- my sister's & brother's families come down from Raleigh & we've made it new family tradition. Very well done light display & overall fun activities.

Mac off?

I am assuming that's the best food-themed fest of the year?

The Mac Off sounds amazing but that Grits festival in St. George sounds like it would be fun too.

Also there's a place called Jamestown, they have the Hell Hole Swamp festival every May.

I love Pet Fest in Mount Pleasant, and we're really looking forward to Strawberry Festival this year as well, since it didn't happen last year.

There's this one at Folly Beach coming up next weekend: Sand and Sea Festival
Maybe the moderator can start an events/festival thread as a sticky so everyone can see what's going on
