And feel free to include anything else I forgot to mention, I want to know everything there is to know about Charleston!!!
there's already lots of threads (many recent) about where to live, so i'm skipping down...
everyone says you'll get used to the weather, and to an extent i think that is true. in the shade on a breezy day, summers just aren't that bad. plus beaches are pretty accessible (nothing like what a lot of southern californians have to go through to get to the beach, IMO). not that i'd want to, say, mow the lawn at high noon on an august day!
other than that the weather is basically awesome October through Maybe early June? and IMO the storms are awesome as long as you aren't trying to drive through the flooded streets. i love sitting on the porch and listening to thunder and a downpour that seems more intense than anything previous.
i like the beaches better here than CA in the following respects: 1) more interesting fauna (crabs skittering around, interesting water fowl, etc; 2) it's not as rough so it's somewhat better for smaller children; 3) it seems less dirty than parts of LA, for example; 4) warmer water! besides that the coast is just beautiful with salt marshes , rivers, inlets.
obviously the pacific has it's own magic and i wouldn't make the case that one is better than the other, i just pointed out what i like. IMO, anywhere there is water anyone ought to be happy.
job market: i don't know enough about that, but have the sense that it is a bit hard to get your foot in the door 9do people agree here?). charleston is a destination as well as a place no one wants to leave. that means a lot of people are willing to work beneath their ability or education (people with college degrees working in food and beverage ). it's a terrific place. i might suggest trying to land a job before moving.
,,,,Sure,,,Everybody loves MtPleasant. Its just across the harbor from Charleston.
Mt Pleasant is nice. But it's hard to pass up the Free Love Freeway up in North Charleston. Maybe they want to check out one of those new Love Sheds up at the Home Depot. Or down in Marion Square. So many options.
It's nice here on the southeast coast, good weather (except summer, too hot), and a pretty coastal place. The bad is it is behind the times here, and groups fight against change and growth, which is very frustrating if you move from a bigger city here. Today, because of some extreme groups here, a judge denied a permit to approve a beautiful new cruise terminal here.
Depends on what you define as "best." Older neighborhoods? Suburbs? Downtown? A McHouse or vinyl village?

No one seems to care, even if you moved from WA like I did and people think you're Canadian, or you're like a couple of friends who are from Germany and Canada.

Three words - hot as f***. It's Costa Rica humid and plants grow jungle fast. June is when it gets so you can forget about doing anything outdoors that involves moving. It lasted until about two weeks ago.
