1. Budget looking to rent first in the $15-1600 range, would like to be in an area that we could eventually purchase for 200-230k
2. House/Condo/Townhome? House
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) Husband will be commuting to downtown Charleston, to the school district building.
4. Children(public school vs. private) Public school, great schools are highly important to us
5. Suburban, Coastal or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of them together (or even Rural) Prefer more suburban with large yards, even more on the rural side. Being close to shopping isn't that important to me.
6. Amenities preferred or must-haves Safe area, we love being outdoors so an area with parks/walking trails, good schools, okay with having up to a 45 minute drive into work to obtain these things
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood family friendly area, fine with diversity
We've looked at Summerville online and it seems nice. Any neighborhoods that are a bit closer to Charleston that are also nice?
Purchase price of $200K to $230K is going to eliminate many places like Mount Pleasant. Summerville would be a good choice. Also look at John's Island.

Thank you!
You might find what you're looking for on James Island. It would most likely be an older home in an older neighborhood but you could find a safe neighborhood in a school district with a high rating on Greatschools.org.
