I witnessed a parking attendant issuing a ticket to a vehicle in a loading zone today. There was another vehicle with a p tag parked in the same loading zone. I asked why he was not being ticketed. I was told that with the p tag they were allowed to park for thirty minutes. I proceeded to tell him that the vehicle had been there for over four hours because it was there when i went into work. Meanwhile the ups truck had to block traffic. If these people abuse the tag then take it away! Just another example of me, myself and i.

What are your thoughts

maybe that truck came and went several times that day, you pay quite a bit extra for the P tag so naturally you would put it to good use

I rarely take advantage of it, but I have a P tag too...

it's the handicap tags they need to clamp down on IMHO, rarely have I seen someone come out of one of those cars that actually physically needed to park closer than anyone else

it's for Trucks, intended mainly for commercial trucks but the DMV will make you pay for one if your truck exceeds a certain weight limit

some of the people that have no choice but to pay the extra occasionally take advantage of it and get their monies worth...

it's convenient when loading anything large you buy and need to load into your truck... you can pull right up into the loading zone, go inside and get your item and come out and load up without getting a ticket for your truck being there without you while you went inside paying etc... or for grabbing dinner you called in

Oh okay I've seen those everywhere, 90% of them driven by housewives running errands and personal shopping downtown who have registered the vehicle to a corporation I guess, often on sports cars ... it seems our area is no more imminune to people with a sense of entitlement and unwarranted self importance who try to use any loophole to their advantage than any oher area. Karma will sort all that out eventually.

Weird that it's called a P Tag tho, you'd think it'd be a T for truck or C for commercial.

I agree with soulsea. They are NOT intended to be used to pick up your lunch, etc.. They are for business owners to deliver or load packages for a period not to exceed 30 minutes. They are being abused and should be ticketed when in violation of the LAW!

When I inquired of the truck plate on my neighbors sedan, he told me that it allowed him to park in loading zones. Nothing about his Mercedes is a truck! But I figured he paid for the privilege so its legit.

yeah, but a lot of times the driver has just dropped someone off right at the destination and then goes back to park. anyone who abuses it is a terrible person though. i just wouldn't ever call someone out for not appearing handicapped. a lot of times the disability is not visible or the circumstances may not be apparent (as in the example above).

I can't tell you how many people I've seen abuse the handicap tags, hundreds over the years I'm sure. I see them come into the parking lots, many times no one in the car with them. The one's I'm referring to aren't dropping someone off, they are just plain lazy probably using someone elses tag.

I have called them out, if you can walk as well as me into and around the store you should keep those up close spots for people that really need them. I usually park way out from everyone, because I'm healthy as a horse, but it seems there's fewer and fewer people that respect the real handicapped and elderly anymore.

you getting discharged out of the military for some physco medical discharge, or you having diabetes but still walking perfectly well into the feeding trough shouldn't afford you a handicap tag.. I've debated with both... there's whole shows dedicated to how people abuse them, but nothing is done about it

I wish they would not give the option for a truck plate for cars. I see people with these truck plate on their fancy cars and I don't like it. Why can't they just be normal like everyone else? Why do they allow people to use these plates on regular cars?
