I'm about half an hour away from hopping on a plane for a house hunting trip ahead of my relocation. I'll be based around the above area, and need shrimp and grits in my life. The weekend is open for my leisure so if you know of a place outside of that area who can make a particularly life changing bowl, I'm all ears.

If you order Shrimp and Grits in 10 different places, it will be served 16 different ways. Most will be good with some more pleasing to an individual's taste.

Seriously -- you folks can discuss for days what restaurants you like and this is your best recommendation....lol.

Can't help with you Summerville/North Charleston -- but I see there is Toast in Summerville, and an Oscars -- those are places I've heard good things....Anyone else can maybe give a first hand recommendation that might be what the OP is looking for.....

I don't eat it, but I understand Page's Okra Grill makes a wonderful dish.

For Summerville, I like Oscar's and Triangle.

Paige's is excellent, but it's a grit cake on sauce and grits. Oh, and it's in Mount Pleasant.

My all time favorite is with a polenta cake.

Sometimes Google is your best choice. Yelp agrees with Oscar's, as shrimp and grits has it's own category on Charleston Yelp.

Yeah I totally went to Yelp -- because I didn't have a clue -- but was thinking somebody might have been to one of the places -- lol.

Just giving you folks a hard time...
