I figured I would ask real people instead of relying on articles to give me information. We are thinking of moving to Mount Pleasant. I have an 8 year old daughter.
- Are the public schools good?
- Is the area safe
- What is the commute like to Charleston for work?
- What is the overall feel of Mount Pleasant?
Mount Pleasant has good public schools, low crime moderate traffic issues to downtown as previously mentioned. The issue for MP is housing tends to be nearly double the price per square foot than other areas of Charleston. You didn't mention your budget but small single family homes start at 350-400k in MP. It's a good location but you'll pay a premium price to live in MP. Other areas with same commute time are Hanahan, West Ashley and James Island.

Thanks everyone!
Yes to the above answers and the same question... what is your budget? You can find excellent elementary schools on upper James Island and in close-in West Ashley for generally less than Mt Pleasant. There's a considerably different feel to the communities though so what "fits" you might be a more important question.
Have you ever been here for a visit?

We haven't figured out budget yet but MP may be a little too high. We're looking for townhomes though not exactly single family homes.
I have been to MP for a quick visit but haven't ventured across the bridge too far. Will definitely have to go back and explore a little more.
