I was looking at the webcams of I-26. The lanes they reversed are almost dead with little traffic. When hopping on I-26, do you have a choice which to take or are there hwy patrolmen forcing you to take one or the other?
Just click on a camera on I-26 and you can see how the traffic is.
Most exits you do not have a choice as I drove The entire stretch just to test it out for fun. Also 26 is backed up on the westbound side for about 5 miles because of the merging situation that have set up to force you onto 77.
Just to let you guys know, 26 is hella backed up in the Columbia Metro. I’m talking bumper to bumper from the Lexington Newberry County line to about the Calhoun Orangeburg County line. A good 50-60 miles. So be prepared to be patient. And if you’re taking the westbound lanes, you get diverted around the entire city if you want to continue on 26. Meaning you have to drive almost the entire beltway. So keep those things in mind if you leave. I mean, it’s making my commute to work hell, but it’s “saving lives” I suppose. So I guess it’s worth it.
Also the line you’re referring to is the eastbound lanes which barely have any traffic because the devices used to measure traffic flow are not set up for that direction.
Absolutely, positively turn off the dang Weather Channel. If you listen closely you'll note that they preface these dramatic statements with "possibly" and "maybe". The survive on advertising revenue and these storms are where they cash in.
There are a number of documented cases where weather reporters are using various tactics to dramatize the news. When called on it, they usually come up with lame excuses.

No, I know that. I drove to Costco today and then toward 77 and it was heavy. But that was at its heaviest around about 1 pm.
We’re six miles inland from Folly Beach on the highest elevation on James Island in a condo complex that predates Hugo, outside of a flood zone. We might evacuate if the forecast ends up scaring us. Last time we evacuated we waited and had the interstate to ourselves.
I26 cameras show little traffic at this time. Trying to decide on going to Hendersonville or taking backroads towards Aiken and NE Georgia. Any thoughts from those who have been through this before? If NE Georgia, any suggestions for a town where we could do some hiking. Thanks
