Pretty much all over. Downtown, Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, James/Johns Island, etc.

Default Young

All over - including James Island - lots of medical there; West Ashley, especially in-close in triangle of Avondale, Byrnes Down, Windermere area; Mount Pleasant; Tanner Plantation in the Hanahan area; Park Circle in North Charleston; Summerville; Goose Creek - just depends on your price range and what you want to be close to and how far you're willing to commute to the beaches, etc.

I would say either an apartment , house or condo. I wouldnt try a cardboard box or bridge underpass this time of year. A tad chilly.

It depends on how young, and with-family or without. Most of the young professionals I've worked with in the past are either single, or married and raising a small family. If it's single, I'd say James Island, West Ashley, and inner Mt. Pleasant (if they rent in Mt. P, since purchasing in inner Mt. P for the most part is rather pricey for those younger). The reason why is because of the draw of downtown, and the beaches. If it's a young professional with a family, I'd say the same areas above but more of outer Mt. Pleasant that includes neighborhoods near 41. You know, the suburbs with good elementary schools.

Don't forget, it also depends on the location of work for most, so this can definitely change things.
