Default Can I survive on 30,000/year in Charleston with 2 kids?

Can I survive on 30,000/year in Charleston with 2 kids? I just want to know if it's possible. I want to make a company transfer (out of NYC) and there's a job opening in Charleston. Is it possible to live off this limited amount of resources?

In Charleston may be tough but if you look at areas like Johns Island, Summerville or Goose Creek you could live comfortably. Commutes to downtown Charleston vary from 30 minutes to 1 hour from either of these locations. I would think anything would be a plus from living in the city.

I guess you could. We live off of $65,000.00 a year with two kids and still live paycheck to paycheck with rent, car insurance, electric, water, groceries, cable, cell phone, ect. I agree that you would need to live on the outskirts of Charleston to make it happen though.

My first inclination is to say not a chance, but I suppose if you have no outstanding debts (credit cards, student loans, car loans, etc) it might be possible. It's so hard with gas prices, food prices, and just about everything else going up.

Default Living on 30k

My husband and I with our 2 kids have been living on an average of 24k, often alot less. It is hard, but we manage. It all depends on what you have, need, and can give up.
