Hi Everyone, I'm looking into renting an apartment in the area for the month of January in order to go job searching... I found a few good deals in Folly and was wondering what it's like there in the winter (weather, things to do, etc). The beaches around here are pretty empty in the winter and many of the businesses are closed so I was wondering how much it slows down there, I don't know that I want to be somewhere that's completely desolate since I would like to be able to get out and meet some people. Also, what's the commute like into downtown? When I was there I was vacationing and didn't pay much attention to how long it took me to get anywhere. Any info or suggestions are appreciated!

Not a lot going on at Folly in the winter, but the restaurants and bars will be open and downtown isn't far away and in January no traffic at all.

Thanks for the info. So even though it's pretty quiet in the winter, still a good place to stay? It's just me and my dog (I'm late 20's) so I figured I'd at least be able to get some nice walks in with her over there. I had a reputation comment from someone who said it's the coldest month of the year, but is it terribly cold? I live in PA so I figure it will be pretty tolerable compared to how it gets up here.

At the beach, the average highs in January are in the mid to high 50's and the average lows are in the low 40's so yes, I would think it would be pretty tolerable compared to PA. I know it is very tolerable for me compared to upstate NY.

OleTomCat....what is the tourist in your own town event in January? I rented an apartment and will definitely be in Folly in January, so now I'm trying to find things to do in the area in between my job hunting. I'm a bit of a foodie, so your comment sparked my attention Anything else going on that time of year in the area?
