I am looking to move to Savannah or Charleston to be closer to family. Anyone have any comparisons of the two areas you would like to share?
Anyway, While on a visit to Charleston I was at a park that was on the water (not a beach though). This park was mainly for walking and had those tall Charleston style houses all over it that I am sure costs a lot of money. Anyway there were canons and stacks of canon balls all over the walking trail next to benches bording the water side of the park. I believe this park was close to the aquarium but looking at satellite pics I can't seem to figure if my suspensions are true maybe b/c the park had mature trees and it wouldn't show up well on the satellite pics. Last thing, from the park I could see the naval ship across the water. Is that an active ship or is it for tourists?
Can someone help me with a link to a map that shows where I was at or give me the name of that park?
Is Battery Park the name of the neighborhood? As I look at it on a map it is listed as White Point Gardens. There are a few others up the street like Waterfront Park and Hazel Parker Playground, are they nice as well?
Thanks to you. I have been trying to find this Park on the satellite pics for like a week now. I guess that is what I get for only visiting once like 6 years ago and just drove around. But Battery Park (or White Point Gardens) has stuck with me so long that I have been thinking about moving there.
Again, thanks.
As an interesting side note...the area is known as White Point (or Oyster Point) because it's on the spot where native indians would pile up opened oyster shells. These shells where bleached white by the sun...hence the name White Point.
Is there any other places in Charleston that has that park feel to it that I wouldn't know about?
Daniel Island has a nice 'park' feel to it!
