I'm considering taking a job in the Yonges Island area (currently living in PA). I refuse to move without my dog. She is a Rottie and I'm having all kinds of trouble finding a place that allows her. She's fairly small for the breed..about 80lbs, super sweet (unless your a groundhog), and loves people. I've searched tons of places online and craigslist with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The best place to look would be to rent from a private owner. Apartment complex's and Home Insurance companies (that provide insurance for rentals) have rotties placed on there restricted dog breed list along with german shepards, pit bulls, dobermans, etc. I personally think that this policy is unacceptable, but thanks to irresponsible dog owners it is there. Also if a private owner is hesitant to rent to you, there are places you can buy renters insurance to cover your pet to ensure them piece of mind. Hope this is a little helpful.
By the way, I commend you on not moving unless you can take your dog. I would also never move anywhere where I could not bring my dogs. I see way to many ads on craigslist etc. that are giving up dogs because they are moving and "are unable to bring there pet with them."
Good Luck in your seach!

I commend you for not leaving your dog behind, I would not do that either.

I currently have three labs, and it was a three dog night last night, the DW was out of town....

It might also be the size of the dog. A lot of homeowners I deal with don't want huge dogs in their rental home. Good Luck! We had a Rottie when I was a kid and she was the best/loving/sweet dog. I miss her -Shana was her name.

Rotts, Pits, chows, etc are restricted breeds & no apartment community will rent to you if you possess such an animal. People really need to consider that before buying/adpoting such breeds. But alas, sometimes our hearts are bigger than our minds. Just sayin....
