Nothing has changed, as witness testimony re: renewal of the Voting Rights Act in 2005.
That conveyed nothing to me about BJU, Greenville County, Jim Demint, or whoever that other person is being racist. With "RACE being the deciding factor" in the Upstate, surely you can find plenty of examples. Wake up.
I could use many others, but the ones I used are more than sufficient.
Are you kidding? One measly example that does not even justify your many claims and you're wanting people to believe that an entire region of the state bases every decision (every person's, every group's, every corporation's) on the color of one's skin. Stop while you're behind. You're discrediting everything you have ever posted on this website.
we are about as far to the left as you can get, lol...and we are finding like minded folks. i guess you just need to hang out in certain spots and talk to groups with similar interests and just kinda go from there. not like where we came from, or other areas we have been...but more liberal then other areas in SC. it's a growing city, people from all over, lots of different lifestyles...defiantly a stretch from portland oregon!
While Charleston is indeed "liberal" than more raving locales like Greenville or the interior UpCountry, where race is still THE determining factor, remember again the context.
I am a Democrat and I take issue with this. The upstate is very conservative but primarily of the religious conservative and economic conservative varieties. We unfortunately hace spread the remaining folks with racial/religions hang-ups accross the entire state.
BTW- Bob Jones U is a complete one off. Look at the other religious school in Greenville- Furman- and you will bascially find its counterpoint. And for the record Chip Campson and John Graham Altman are the stuff of lowcountry wingnut dreams. I think Brown far out conservatives Ingles.
Back on point. Charleston is liberal for a Southern area but still along the lines of moderates and Southern Democrats. And 95% of conservatives are perfectly happy to share the area with people of diferent opinions as long as they are respectful. It is pretty easy to find people with similar opinions locally as long as you are open and not insisting on bringing a wiccan meeting house to Park West or a pro-Palestinian office to Windemere. Unfortunately some people really are that daft.

Religion, economics:
All about race in the South, Remember what Lee said about it?
Also,
Why can't Palestinians and Jews get along in S. Windemere?
They do so in Ipanema.
