MJ, that is why a boat is the best way to see them. Maybe you could look into a rental?

Actually.. that reminds me of the 4th of July we did haul our boat all the way down there, had a flat (trailer) tire across from Charleston National on 17 and spent the first day finding/getting new tires. THEN, hubs refused to put it in the water because the drop off was so steep (probably low tide?) and the guy warned him.. "I hope you know where you're goin'" Great memories!

Anyway, the next trip we looked into renting a boat and it was like $500..

You rent the boat OTC and we'll go with you .. LOL We'll even spring for the Bud..

Don't know about the fireworks, but wanted to add that we have stayed at the King Charles Inn and loved it. Room was a little tight with our family of 5, but didn't matter. Clean, comfortable and excellent location. Great little pool, delicious cocktails and overall great experience. We would definitely stay there again.

Every where near the Harbor is going to be crowded this evening.
Your best bet will be to get down there early and have dinner and just hang out a while, then
find your "spot" and hang out there until the fireworks.

Happy 4th!

I know this is after the fact, but we drove down and found easy parking near Ben Sawyer Bridge, then watched the fireworks from the bridge. We had a 360 degree panorama of fireworks shows being set off all over the county. It was unbelievable, made even better because we went there on a whim.

We decided at the last minute to go see if we could get a spot on IOP, the traffic was horrendous (should have known) We ended up sitting in a car park and watched the fireworks from there, great show, but next year we will know to plan better!

On the way back home, going over the bridge, we got to see a lot more fireworks going off, Jay said that next year he is going to put on his own show...lord help us!!
