Neighborhoods closer to the 526 interchange then, to try and cut a few extra minutes off of your commute time. Belle Hall, Longpoint, Snee Farm, Brickyard Plantation, etc., would all be great neighborhoods to look through. Other neighborhoods like Rivertowne, Dunes West, Park West, Hamlin, etc., could add a number of minutes to your travel time depending on where in the neighborhood the home is (heading out of the larger neighborhoods and onto 41/17/526 is where you'll get jammed up the most) but they're certainly all family-friendly neighborhoods and well worth a visit.

Why not live in Summerville if you are going to work there?

I live in Park West and drive to Summerville 5 times a week. I take 41 to Clement's Ferry to 526 and NEVER encounter traffic. The only hold up is people who can't change lanes properly when I have to go from I-26 to 526.

thanks so much for the information. any ideas about commute time? map quest says 30 minutes, but i know that can be notorious wrong.
we are planning on living mt pleasant because my family cannot afford private schools and the public ones appear to have a better reputation in mt. pleasant and my wife wants to be situated close to the beach.
