Looking to relo to Charlotte. Anyone familiar with the east side?, like out between 485 and Harrisburg RD area (west of Larkhaven Golf Club) looking at a place in Turtle Rock subdivision, have not visited yet but will. Would like to narrow down my area beforehand to maximize my time there searching

Any other suggestions on "sides" of town that are more desirable would be appreciated. I have read other posts that the west side probably is'nt for me. I have a child that would be in 7th grade so schools are important and i would like to be able to road bike from my driveway and get right onto some decent cycling roads. Preferably what we call "back roads" here in PA

Any tips, replies or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance

Union county. Take a ride straight out Lawyers road over 485. Much better schools!!! Tons of bikes out on the weekends, must be a club out there. You could also look around the weddington area, lots of country still out there. I'd stay away from Mecklenburg schools.

If you're going to look in that area you might consider going over the County line into Cabarrus (the name of the town is Harrisburg).

Please keep in mind that new developments in this area have been affected with high foreclosure rates, and values have dropped significantly as a result along with a poor economy many houses are being sold for half of what they originally bought for. That being said, I don't think Turtle Rock is a bad neighborhood persay. It may not exactly be what you're envisioning either. I'd say visit it and judge for yourself.
