In the S. Charlotte area. I also heard sirens around the same time (20 min ago). Duke says 2600 affected. No details yet. My battery backups are beeping at me

Anyone have any ideas?

Yep, I'm on Quail Hollow Rd and my power went out about then. Funny how the sound of silence is what woke me (didn't hear sirens). I called 1-800-POWERON and the automated voice said that a tree had interacted with power lines. Assuming because of the winds we had overnight. I saw the remnants of the tree this morning on the way to work. Fortunately my power cam back on around 6am.

Ah thanks! I was wondering if our neighborhood was the only one affected :-).

We got power back around then as well. I never got back to sleep after the initial outage and am exhausted right now My youngest woke up right before the power went back on and was completely freaked out about how dark it was. I had to give him a flashlight to hang out with.
