We are from Long Island and looking to retire in an active adult retirement community. We loved The Villages in Florida, but not crazy about moving to Florida. Does anyone know of a good planned retirement community that the home prices are not already over $300,ooo?

There are alot of great active adult communities in this area and the first one that comes to mind is Sun City Carolina Lakes by Del Webb. Located just 5 miles from the Charlotte Ballantyne area, its close to shopping and has a wonderful golf course.

They are still building in there but the ones on ready right now are priced between $230,000 - $290,000. Plus, being in South Carolina, the property tax is lower than mecklenburg county.

There are others available throughout the region as well.

The Four Seasons at Gold Hill in Fort Mill and Dale Webb's Sun City in Lancaster County are two in this area. Sun City in huge; Four Seasons in smaller.
