The closest you're gonna get is the new U.S. National White Water Center. It's the largest in the world: US National Whitewater Center //// TAKE IT OUTSIDE !!! \\\\

Not really any day trips unless you want Class I and II rapids in Western Carolina. Make a 2 day trip to West Virginia and hit up the Gaully or New River for au naturale Class III, IV, and V's.

The National Whitewater Rafting center is right up the road (off I-85S at the Sam Wilson Road Exit). It's a little difficult to find - there is no signage, however I have heard they offer a variety of courses.
