Hello there! My husband and I are going up to Mooresville to look around in June. We have a child who will be starting kindergarten so schools are important. We're looking to leave south florida but I'm concerned about this area being crowded as well. Any information is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Population looks to be 5500. Here is a link. The higher the number the worst the area is. 10 is like Iraq~!

You are headed right into the thick of things. I dont know what your definition of crowded is, but imo Mooresville fits it just nicely. Hwy 150 that runs through Mooresville has all the shops, Walmart, theatre, Lowes, Super Target etc. Dont try to drive that on the weekends or rushour evenings. Gets pretty backed up. Youll make it through but it takes time.

Huntersville is the same way. Sam Furr RD is terrible during all times of the day now, unless its after 10pm at night. They have put so many stoplights on that road now that its ridiculous. I avoid that area like the plague if I can.

Just to let you know, not trying to discourage you but any place that is a suburb of Charlotte or a surrounding city has experienced unbelievable growth in the past few years. The infrastructure has not kept up, mainly the roads. Subdivisions and strip malls are being built and the population seems to be at a breaking point.

I dont know if i can be of any help but that is where we are heading in mid June. My son lives there so thats why we are ending up there.
I do know it's growing quite a bit and it has a lot to offer in terms of shopping and all. Seems to be a lot of familys as well.
What is bringing you to that paticular town? Some of the surrounding ones seems worth looking into as well.

Default Ncbound

Hi, Mooresville is getting a bit crowded ( and expensive). However the school system, I have heard is excallent. I am moving to Troutman which is 7 miles north of Mooresville and is a beautiful area. Check out the new subdivisions they are building there.

Paul

I hear a lot about shifting kids from one school to another.. and issues like that.. not knowing that even if you buy in a town or district based on a house being in a good school district.. they could shift you all around and send you somewhere else ?? How real is that ?? We'll be re-locating there as well this summer most likely with 2 young children, and were considering to simply buy in the city we like based on other factors other than schools and simply rely on private schools. I don't want to give up on the public schools but I don't want to have to be shifting the kids around either ?? I want to start them at a school and stick with it. I did that too much as a kid, and hated it !

Parents in Charlotte schools have been fighting to secede (not from the union) from the Charlotte-Meck school district for a couple of years now. They have been unsuccesful so far. The end result is "voting with their feet" and many parents from Charlotte are moving out to where their kids wont have to switch schools. Go to a county school and it wont happen.

Id steer clear of Meck county schools. I know North Meck in particular is a trailer park, literally. Most school kids spend the day outside in trailers and not even step into the school building. Be very careful of overcrowding, schools are overflowing around here.

I really dont know where alot of people hear about a great school system here. I have only heard the opposite actually on the news.
