A lot of gangs have relocated with the masses, producing gang wanna-bes. They don't know what they are doing, but, they sure are violent. It is scary!

Six specific events come to mind:

1. My brother had a van, parked in his driveway, where he and his partner stored their surveying equipment. Someone managed to gain access and stole all of the equipment, rather expensive stuff from what I heard.

2. My parents left their apartment, came back after a couple of hours, to find that someone had broken in by breaking the door. They stole a rather odd mix of items.

3. A co-worker was shot when he and a few friends were out for lunch over there at the Shoppes at University Place.

4. I was dismayed to come out to get my car Christmas Eve morning to see that someone's car had been broken into.

5. I witnessed two kids order food from a local restaurant, sit down and eat it, then they just got up, ran out the door, and disappeared.

6. A co-worker was at her desk. She got up for a second to do something, and when she got back, noticed that her bottom drawer was open. She saw the guy with her purse just as he was running out the door. A couple of the guys chased him and eventually tackled him a few blocks away and got her purse back.

And here I thought it would improve around there with the Walmart gone...

Why do the churches have police officers inside? Is there some heightened sense of security issues in these environments?

Possibly they are just waiting in there until service is over so they can direct traffic?

I haven't seen or experienced it.

Compared with Memphis and Philly, where I worked prior to moving to Charlotte, Charlotte is by far cleaner and less dangerous. Now that I live in Denver, NC, I wouldn't even put Charlotte on the same list as the other two cities.

We may get the occasion car break in for a GPS unit and petty theft but we had the exact same type of crimes at a similar frequency where I grew up in a small cow town in rural PA. If people are honestly crossing Charlotte off of a place to potential move because of either crime or traffic, I think they'd be doing a great disservice to their possible relocation.

I don't live in Charlotte, but I spend most of my time there, and the only thing I have experienced is I get CPCC emails almost every week because someone get's stabbed/shot/raped/robbed/their car broken into.
