Question Help us, Help you

Need more specifics than that! Prices range? Purpose? Where do you work, or are you independently wealthy?

Mint Hill is in Mecklenburg County, and most of the homes are built on large lots there. Unless you don't mind spending a fortune on water to irrigate your yard, I wouldn't recommend Union County for a lot that large. Water is very expensive in Union County. My neighbor on approx. .75 acres paid a $1000 water bill the first month he was here, because he didn't know that it was so cotsly to water your yard all the time.

I'd say Caberrus for the lower taxes and prices are typically lower for homes as well.

You will find lots that size harder to come by...developers are taking all of the larger parcels and subdividing into .5 acre lots to maximize...I do it myself...I happen to have one of the only subdivisions with 1.0 to 1.4 acre parcels located near Troutman(actually unincorporated Iredell County) next to the State Park...depending on your pice range you are in competition with developers...there are simply very few buildable lots of that size, and if you do find one, MAKE SURE IT PERC's FOR SEPTIC!!!

many of the houses in union county on 1+ acre have a well so they have no water bill - and we live in weddington on over 1 acre and have a water bill of about $100/month to keep the yard decent - and its all grass

HI
Most of the land has been chopped up in Mecklenburg counties by developers over the years. Even though most parts of desirable South Charlotte, the homes sit in small lots, there is still land available or homes that sit on one acre plus lots just not as much as before. Actually now that I think about it, there is an 1.10 acre of raw land for sale on Colony RD for a 1.2 million dollars in South Park.

Depends where you're being transferred to. Northern Iredell County has land, parts of Cabarrus County, Lincoln, Alexander, Catawba may still have affordable land....
