Hello! I recently moved here to Charlotte and I have been reading this forum for a few months.

My wife and I are currently looking to buy a house. Last weekend we stumbled across the Old Stone Crossing community (near UNCC) and we loved the houses that were being built by K. Hovnanian. We have heard rumors that the schools in the area (area code 28213), especially Vance High School were pretty bad. Not being too familiar with the area, I would love to here people's opinions about the area and in particular the schools.

If it is not too much, I would also love to hear some suggestions for new homes in the $375K - $415K price range with S.F of about 3,200 - 3,500 with good schools.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Do a thread search for school and tax information, I have dropped some pdf's there regarding the school systems. There are plenty of other communities with schools that have better test scores.
