In the 350-400K range? I know new homes aren't listed on the mls usually. WOndering if the CLOSER-IN NEIGHBORHOODS (cotswold, Midwood, etc etc) are already fully developed, hence no room for new homes. Or is their still some construction going on in these areas (and NOT Ballantyne or other obvious areas further south, I'm talking neighborhoods closer to uptown. Also, not refering to developments actually uptown - I know there is a lot of that construction going on. I'm talking more single family homes...)
Thanks!!!

There are new ones here and there, no completely new subdivisions or neighborhoods. Maybe a strand of 4 or 5, some single by themselves where a builder knocked down an old home.

There is not a lot of room for new home, McMansion growth in Cotswold, Dilworth, or Myers Park...thank goodness. There are plently of homes in this price range in Elizabeth and the other above-mentioned areas already available that are not new construction. You may be able to find new/ recently torn-down re-built homes in Plaza Midwood the areas around East Bay Street. The ones in your price range are not large homes like what you will get for your money a bit further out, but you are paying for location.

I'n not talking about eye-sore McMansion types homes either, I was ust referring to something new or newer (and beautifully, tastefully done). Most of the homes in those neighborhoods seem to be 50's ranch style and one-story traditional, which isn't really for me.

Well, in your range that is what is there. Sorry.

And unfortunately, with the high prices in those areas, any new construction would undoubtedly be McMansion style. It seems it is one or the other in high demand, high priced uptown adjacent communities. My boyfriend lives in Dilworth and has a great 1400 square foot home, ranch, built in the 50's (obviously has been upgraded, but still) and he got it for $389,000.

That's pretty common.
