Hello there,

I've been trying to do as much research as I can on Charlotte and would like to move there after I finish college this upcoming May. I'll be graduating with a degree in Public Relations and would like to have my work be as close as possible.

Is it possible to find work within the same zip code? Would a car be absolutely required or would public transport be fine?

As a young professional, what is there to do for fun/entertainment? What do you like about Charlotte?

This will be my first major move to a city I'm not accustomed to. I've grown up in Rochester, NY for the majority of my life and spent 6 months studying abroad in Sydney, Australia.

Any additional information you have would be extremely helpful.

Kind of putting the cart before the horse aren't you?

How can you 'determine' what zip code you'll be looking to live without having a job offer to base it off?

Yes, it is entirely possible to live and work under the same zip code. Whether or not it is feasible depends on many other factors --- cost of housing vs income to pay for said housing, etc.

It looks like I got zip code confused with block. Silly me and my rush to get this post out. I know that in Rochester there are designated residential zones and some areas which are business only but houses aren't too far away.

You should find a job first, then decide on housing. Charlotte is known for its sprawl and you don't want a job on one side of town and an apartment on the other. Transportation will depend on where your job/living lands you. You'll probably need a car. It's not a very walkable city and the public transportation is pretty lacking outside of uptown.
