Let's see how it goes with the new and bigger intersections.
Might be some fun times ahead!

Ah- we have bicycle lanes, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings with lights at the major intersections now!
2 lanes to turn left off Brawley onto Morrison plantation
2 lanes to turn right off Morrison onto Brawley.
2 lanes to turn left onto Canvasback.

I could go on, but don't want to boast

Well this is good news, indeed!

Please let us know how things are moving with school year starting.

Anyone got a camcorder and can take some footage to show us how things are progressing? That would be very enlightening. We have had so many threads in the past on this subject . . .

Thank you for the update, Whatsthenews!

Well my husband called me after he left home this morning at 6.45 to say "weeeeeeeeeeeeeee"!
We live off Canvasback Rd-from the Brawley/Canvasback intersection to the Brawley/ Williamson intersection is 1 mile and we are just over 1/2 a mile from there.
It had taken him approx 3 mins to get there, compared to around 6 minutes before. Some of that would be the fact that we now have dedicated lanes for turning right and left at the top of Canvasback, plus the 4 lanes on Brawley, and 2 lanes for turning left off Brawley onto Williamson as well as 2 straight ahead lanes and dedicated right turn lane.
I will ask our son what the trafic was like on the school bus this am (he goes to LNHS) and get him to video with his phone tomorrow, then , if I can figure out how to insert a video I will do that.
Do we need to save the video somewhere on the web first?

Will be interested to hear timing for DHs equivalent return tonight at around 5.45pm.

The next phase ie widening of Brawley east of Williamson to new I77 intersection isn't due for comletion until 2013, but it's a different company doing that section and they seem to be moving more quickly.

They have built a new road that goes into the back of the Townhome complex near the intersection of Rolling Hills and Brawley and apparently there's going to be new retail and homes in there somewhere, and a park and ride, although currently we have nothing to ride! Hopefully we get rid of the current Mayor of Mooresville and we might get the express bus back.
VERY shortsighted that they refused to continue to pay the subsidy to CATs.

The new lanes are almost all there and paved, plus the new medians and the new bridge they constructed over the I77 has been open for around 4 weeks now and they have traffic on that while they upgrade the old bridge.
On/ off ramps are well underway too.
We will wait and see as winter is approaching.
