But why should anyone "convince" someone else to move if that person is happy where they are? This is a huge part of the problem with transplants to Charlotte and other parts of NC--they moved because "everybody told us to" and everybody said they would be so much happier--so they uprooted, called the movers, and came to NC, without doing their own research on what made them happy. These are a large component of the ones who never fit in and end up moving back--they came because somebody else "convinced" them to, against their own gut. The same people who wouldn't buy a pair of shoes just because their neighbor did are somehow pulling up and moving to another region of the country they've never set foot in, just because "they told us it was so wonderful here and we'd never be unhappy again...so here we are!"
Maybe if people would just worry about their own happiness instead of trying to bring everybody else with them when they move, there'd be less malcontent from those who transplanted with misgivings? Live your life, let them live theirs.

I don't care why they come, but I'm glad they're coming. I hope they KEEP coming. And I hope they keep bringing all that NY ca$h with them. And it wouldn't **** me off if they helped with the schools either.
