moving to charlotte with large dog (apartments, renting, day care)

Hello all,
I will be moving to the Charlotte area very soon to work in a hospital downtown. I am looking for a townhome/apartment in the downtown area that would be willing to let my 4-legged friend tag along. He's a German Shepherd, but is a white/gray color so I might have some leeway in calling him a "mix."

Anyways, my question is, does anyone know of a complex that has more "relaxed" breed restrictions? He's a sweet dog, great with kids and other people. I wish the landlords would meet him and see his demeanor and it would be a non-issue. Unfortunately he is blacklisted at most places.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (I have been looking for private owners on craigslist without much luck finding anything)

I used to walk dogs in the area.. Post Gateway Village allowed big dogs, not sure of their breed restrictions. I would play the "mix" card if you can!

Yes, I think looking for private homeowners who are renting will be your best bet. There are a number of apartments who don't have weight restrictions uptown but unfortunately I can't think of any that allow germans or any mix thereof.

Charlotte is a very pet friendly city however. Pleanty of parks, vets and doggie day care to choose from once you get settled. Good luck and sorry couldn't be of more help
