I probably drive to NJ 4 X's per year and always take 77 > 81, lots of stops just off the exits for gas, food etc., far less of a stressful drive then the Rt. 95 corridor, and no tolls....safe travels!
Anyone driven up to NYC from here? My family needs to go to NYC this Friday, but since it is a last minute trip, the airfare is very expensive for 2 adults. I have a baby, but she is free since only 9 months old.
Just wondering if anyone has driven all the way up there? Is the drive reasonable? Thank you.
Personally, I found it exhausting! I left NC to NY in the evening. I love to drive! You have to be alert at all times.
We split the drive in half - drove to a relative's house in Chesapeake, VA, stayed overnight, then drove to NYC the next day. We took Rt 13 over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. It's a little longer, but there's less traffic & it's more scenic.
