Last time I took the I-95 route on a weekend took 15 hrs,due to traffic volume and that mess around DC. I took the 77-81-78 in 9.5 much better option

I probably drive to NJ 4 X's per year and always take 77 > 81, lots of stops just off the exits for gas, food etc., far less of a stressful drive then the Rt. 95 corridor, and no tolls....safe travels!

Just wondering if anyone has driven all the way up there? Is the drive reasonable? Thank you.

Personally, I found it exhausting! I left NC to NY in the evening. I love to drive! You have to be alert at all times.

We split the drive in half - drove to a relative's house in Chesapeake, VA, stayed overnight, then drove to NYC the next day. We took Rt 13 over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. It's a little longer, but there's less traffic & it's more scenic.
