I'm coming to Charlotte next week for a job interview. It's my first trip to Charlotte, and it will be my only chance to look around before possibly getting this job. My question is where should I look around at houses to buy while I'm here? I mainly just want to get a feel for towns/neighborhoods, not look at specific properties.

My qualifications:
-The job is near the airport, and I'd want to live as close as possible.
-A safe neighborhood/area
-Price range: 100K, give or take

I know this can be hard, but surely there's some areas out there that are affordable without sacrificing safety.

Thanks!

$100k as a budget will certainly limit your options. I'd search a real estate website and get an idea of what you can get for the price you're willing to pay. Then report back with ZIP codes or street names and we can help. There are plenty of 100k houses out there, but size and area vay greatly.

You can't even get a condo in Berewick for under $120,000, forget a house.

Our OP's budget is not going to go far in Charlotte I'm afraid. I too would recommend they look at Gaston County

No. What about around Pineville? Is that commute feasible?

Yes it is.

Your best commute would be from Gaston County, though.

The only thing I can think of is some of the townhome places on Prosperity Church in the university area. Then either hop on 485 or 85 and get there. I live near there and go to school right near the airport at CPCC Harris campus and i make it there in about 25 minutes. And I know fore sure you can get in under 100k because I did. I am in a 3 bedroom 2.5bath townhome and I love the area. The ones I am talking about are near the Bi-Lo and near the Harris Teeter near Eastfield near where Prosperity Church ends, you can take Eastfield to 485 or go straight down Prosperity Chruch to 85.
