After reading another thread about the over flow of students in schools, I thought some might find this interesting.
"Shrinking enrollment and donations are forcing Providence Christian private school in South Charlotte to close after 25 years". ( I can't find the link )
This will be their last year open.
News report said, enrollment in some schools are down, even CMS, not just private schools.
If your kids are now enrolled in this school, will you send to another private school or go public?
I've never heard of this school and I live right by it. Don't know anyone who goes/went there. Was it really small? My daughter's elementary school (public) lost a 4th and 5th grade class the year before last because so many fewer kids had enrolled. Not to start a big shouting match here, but the one reason I heard that made sense to me at the time was that there were a lot of children enrolled who were the children of illegals who had gone home when the economy slowed down.
It's not just illegals. People just haven't been moving in as much as in the past, and some who moved here from other parts of the country (particularly without jobs) have moved back to be closer to family.

This is a very small school of only about 200 kids, give or take, from pre-schoolers to 8th grade.
In all likelihood they just can no longer survive in this economic downturn.
My grand daughter attends Charlotte United Christian Academy ( formally Garr Christian) I believe that I believe they Providence is going to merge with us.
My daughter attended Prov Christian from K - 6.
When she attended there were 2 classes in each grade level but by 4th grade there was only the one class.
When she was in 5th grade it was the same and then by 6th grade there were less than 15 of them in the class.
I sent her to public school for 7th grade as i found out the class size would be only 5 or 6.
She really did flourish at that school and I really think it was their Shurley Language program for English and also there strong Math that has allowed my daughter to stay a straight "A" student now she is in 10th grade.
Her English teachers have always said that she has very strong grammar skills.
Her math ability is superb as well.
Sad this school is closing as it really was a good school and certainly laid the foundations for my child to excel in her academics.
