Hello...

Is there a risk that weddington chase community in waxhaw can be assigned to cuthbertson schools which are short distance to the community? Right now they are Sandy Ridge/Marvin Ridge.

Please advise.

Thanks!

It's hard to say currently the school with the most room is Cuthbertson. Marvin Ridge has grown so much at the middle school and high school level they have added more teachers last year and it sounds like more this year because of the number of kids moving into the district.

I doubt it, that community has already moved a few times and I think they are there to stay. They also put up a strong fight to be in the Marvin district when CMS and CHS's were being built.

I think Cuthbertson needs to leave a little room right now because Lawson, Millbridge and Cuerton still have plenty of homes to be built.

They used to be in Weddington schools system, before Marvin Schools were built and everybody is very happy. Actually a big part of the attraction to move and stay there are the Marvin Schools.
That community doesn't mind paying extra taxes to belong to Marvin (instead of Waxhaw). I'm sure they would put up a fight if there will be any changes from Marvin schools...

Whats wrong with Cuthbertson? Looks like a pretty good school from the outside?

Village of Marvin's taxes are MUCH lower than Village of Waxhaw.

Sorry my mistake, WC does not have to pay the Waxhaw taxes, just the UC taxes.
I meant to say that on top of Union County taxes, most residents of WC chose to pay the extra tax for Marvin - just so they belong to Marvin.
They could also chose to not pay them, only the UC taxes.

I see that some neighborhoods debate if they want to choose to pay the extra Marvin taxes (on top of Union County taxes)...

Regardless, as I understand, the UC school assignment is independent of where the taxes are paid.

It is a good school. But Marvin and Weddington have the reputation of being excellent, and Cuthbertson is new and still working out a couple of kinks.

I was under the impression that Cutherbertson had been opened for a few years. Didn't know that it was just opening up. What kinks are they working on? Just curious, as to what specfically makes Weddington or Marvin Ridge a better school?
