Does anyone know what birth control is covered on NC Medicaid? Is Seasonique covered? I can't find any info online & of course I can't get a hold of anyone at the Medicaid/DSS office!
Thanks!

I don't know the answer but if you aren't familiar with the following page you might want to check it out.
What's confusing about that program is the website says it isn't for people already on Medicaid. I think it's a supplemental program or maybe part of a federal waiver but they could do a better job being explicit.
The problem with the info online is its not specific as to which BC pills it covers. :-( I don't want to get to the pharmacy to pickit up and find out its not covered.
Obama passed a bill that went into effect in October 2012 that says that birth control pills are free. My insurance pays 100% for them now. They didn't before.

Can you run by your pharmacy and ask if whatever medication is covered?
Or call and be on hold forever or stop by and wait in line forever the DSS office on Billingsley?

They are not free. They are covered by insurance. And if there's a generic version of the same drug available and you insist on the name brand you might not get what you want for free.
The OP asked two questions. Does Medicaid cover birth control: Probably yes. Does Medicaid cover Seasonique? Maybe. It depends on if there is a generic (which one website says there is but I can't confirm it) and if they will cover extended release BC when other options are available.
Hopefully the OP will be kind enough to report back the answer.
NC Medicaid doesn't pay for every birth control. I don't believe they pay for Seasonale or Seasonique without a prior auth. As far as I know, the only 3 month BC they pay for is the depo shot.
