ER cleared for Steele Creek

Carolinas HealthCare System received the go-ahead Friday to build a $19 million Healthplex, including a free-standing emergency department, in the Steele Creek neighborhood.

State officials approved a certificate-of-need for the proposal, projected for completion in September 2009 at 13460 Steelcroft Parkway, near Steele Creek Road and South Tryon Street.

The emergency room will be staffed round-the-clock with board-certified emergency physicians. The diagnostic imaging area will include a 64-slice CT scanner, X-ray and ultrasound.

Woohoo! Happy dance! That's right around the corner from us!!! Oh, yeah!!

There's also a 40,000-square-foot medical office building, which will house ob-gyn, internal medicine and pediatrics services, under construction and set to open in early 2008.

That's awesome. I am new to the area and I was concern that the closest hospital is in Pineville.....?
