Many of you come across as if you are comparing Charlotte to the entire state of New Jersey.
That alone speaks volumes for Charlotte, IMO.

Big houses are nice and pretty to look at in both states. I'm not sure if NC has any on the scale of those photos above, but considering the proximity NJ is to NYC, thats not surprising.

Not to discount the feeling one gets when they move away from there familiar surroundings. My work moved me to Houston, TX in 1988-89. I never felt grounded there. It takes time, but I didn't particularly like the city back then. I wanted to get back to Charlotte and enjoy seeing it mature. It's come a long way since then, and still has room to grow and improve. And it's fun to be part of a vibrant, new south city on the move.

NJ is really beautiful. I always laugh when Americans who know nothing about NJ deride it.

Only thing I ever hear about NJ are the Jersey Devil or the infamous italian Sunday dinners.

That's about as accurate as people from NY and Boston characterizing Charlotte as:

Anyone can post pictures of mansions and say it is an example of a particular state or location.

I guess I could have posted a pic of the Biltmore House in response to your N.J. mansion picture.

But I chose to show that each state has its positives and negatives and posting pictures of lavish homes is far from the normal everyday life when it comes to N.J. or any other state.

As part of the wealthiest metro area in the US, and one of the wealthiest in the world, NJ has many stunning areas. My point is that ignorant people make grossly inaccurate stereotypes about it.

It's not just towns of unparalleled wealth that only few places in the US can compare to. It's also the beautiful mountains and beaches and quaint places like Cape May that people either don't know or chose to forget.

PS: Biltmore is not in Charlotte, and its not representative of anything in Charlotte. The homes posted from NJ are representative of many elite Jersey suburbs of NY.

Seems most of the pro Jersey posters just don't get it. The OP is leaving Charlotte, and heading back to NJ. Suddenly, this became a thread comparing 1 city to an entire state. So, the Biltmore and all other beautiful photos of NC should be relevant just as much as the dingy photos showing the attractive and lesser attractive parts of NJ.

If the OP would care to share the exact city/town in NJ he/she were going back to, then we could narrow it down on the pictures from each city (which would still be irrelevant, IMO), because I still think the OP, who has been eerily quiet since the start, is leaving because he/she is lonely and wants to get back to friends and familiar surroundings. Probably has nothing to do with the amount of wealth and mansions or oil refineries in NJ.

Nah, as per usual, It's pictures of North Jersey, representing it as the state. Had the southern counties been successful with secession to form a 51st state in 1980, South Jersey would be a small, poor, mostly rural, red to purple state,

The state of NJ is not part of the NYC metro. North Jersey is.

If I leave the Charlotte area I certainly can't afford to move back to New Jersey... and if I could afford to move back to New Jersey I certainly wouldn't! Posting pictures of New Jersey mega mansions is totally ridiculous. As for the op, I hope you find what you are looking for.
