Does anyone have a doctor who readily prescribes NDT (natural dessicated thyroid) like Armour, Westhroid, NatureThroid, Thiroyd, NP Thyroid, Thyra Gold, etc...? I'm not interested in synthetic T4/T3 combo meds and certainly not T4 only meds. I'm having trouble finding doc that will do anything other than Synthroid or Levoxyl.
I wish I had an answer, but I am looking for the same thing! Kbrewer1980, did you find a doctor here who would prescribe a synthetic T4/T3 combo? If so, would you mind PMing me the name? I haven't even been able to find that.
I wish I had some answers for you on the NDT, but no such luck. I'm actually planning on calling around to pharmacies this week to see if they have suggestions.
Thank you! I've heard her name but am scared of the price. Any of that you'd be willing to share? i.e., how much does your first visit cost, how much are follow-ups, can you get your insurance to cover any of it?
Ooh, I switched from Rolband because he treated me like a paycheck. When I asked for Armour he told me that he has the degree and I don't. I guess enough people left he changed his tune...
I have been seeing Dr. Matthew for about 4 years so I cannot remember initial prices. She does not accept insurance but will give you the form to submit yourself. She is very understanding and actually listens to you. I have felt so much better since seeing her. She also takes CareCredit and will run it through for 0% interest for 12 months.
That's awesome, thank you! I called and checked in on prices with her and am thinking of making an appointment. The initial visit is one hour long and $425.
Does she order a lot of expensive tests and/or push supplements? This would be a big out of pocket cost for me, so I'd just want to know everything before I go in and get blindsided with a bunch of extra expensive stuff besides the office visit!
Thanks again.
I've heard mixed things about Rolband--some people/places seem to say he's happy to prescribe it, others say he's seriously anti-NDT. But man, he has the degree and you don't?! That's awful!

Reason: Edited to change my poor typing skills this morning.
She does not push anything. I have never felt pressure to buy anything. She does send you to Lab Corp to get your blood work done. Lab Corp accepts insurance. If you do not have insurance, she will pay for the tests and you reimburse her. It is cheaper than you paying Lab Corp directly.
If you are willing to travel a little, then I highly recommend Robinhood Integrative Health in Winston-Salem. (It takes me about an hour to get there from Cornelius.) They take a very comprehensive approach to hormones, and are in network with most insurance. Robinhood Integrative Health

I have never had anything but excellent care from Dr. Rolband. I am sorry you had a bad experience, but I think he is an excellent doctor who listens to me and allows me to try things to help me.
