Hi, I'm planning on moving to Charlotte and am visiting in June. I would like to know where a good place is for an almost-50 year old female that is single. I will be bringing my two labs and would love to be close to hiking hills that are dog friendly. I will be working from home so something close to shops, restaurants, etc. would be great. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you! Karen

South Charlotte outside of Ballantyne (near Ballantyne Commons Rd.) offers walking trails and is near many stores and shopping. I am not sure about Steele Creek, it seems like a good area to live and has many apartments near McDowell Nature Preserve to walk at and near a lot of shopping. If anyone lives in the Steele Creek area maybe they can pipe in.
Hope that helps.

I lived in Steele Creek, not far from Rivergate, for a while last year. It's okay, but kind of boring suburban sprawl. Not all of the apartments in the South Tryon corridor are that good, though some are pretty nice (Bexley Steelecroft, for example). If I move back to Charlotte, I think I'd look more in the other places that have been mentioned here. Note also that Steele Creek is under the flight path to/from CLT which means lots of airplane noise.
