Moving to Cornelius and just started looking into TV/Internet options (undecided as to if I need a land line)

TWC is expensive and doesn't have the option to record and watch on any TV. Also doesn't have all the channels I want

DirectTV seems to have everything I want on the TV end. Years ago I had them and the service was spotty when the weather wasn't perfect. Has that improved over the years?

If I went with DirectTV for TV - what do I do for internet?

Any other providers to look into?

Thanks

Cornelius is served by MI-Connection for cable, not TWC. Your other choice for Internet would be AT&T but their Uverse package isn't available everywhere.

Can't really say. I use an antenna and a Roku for TV.

If you have a clear sight line to the southwest sky and not in a hilly or heavily treed area, should be fine. I have direct TV and it goes out in really bad storms for a few minutes but storms are rare here. You can continue watching the dvr though if you can't get signal.

And I know direct TV actually have more satellites in different areas but I'm not sure where. Ours is facing SW.

I have a very clear SW view.

DTV is the clear leader so far.

And you don't need a landline. Forgot to add that. In the old days you did but not now. If you want the the genie system and instant playback from the on demand, you do need strong internet. I had to cancel one provider as it wasn't strong enough. I have a gamers internet (forgot the speed) with Time Warner.

DirectTV is nice, well, not exactly sure, when I was in Fayetteville I used Prism/Century Link/Which I was told had something to do with DirectTV.

I have had Direct TV for going on 15 years and have no complaints. It very rarely goes out and when it does, it has to be absolutely pouring the rain. They have also given me NFL Sunday Ticket for free for the last 6 years.

MI connection internet is good and reliable abut it is not cheap as a stand alone service, which to me is very, very annoying. They are running a deal right now in which they are offering cable, a land line, and 30mb internet for $99.99. I called them just the other day to try and talk them into giving me a deal on just the 30mb and they wanted $72.99 and would not budge on that price. Their stand alone 20mb is $49.99, which is what I used to have up until about ten months ago. I switched to WindStreams DSL which is 24mb and they gave me a deal where I only pay a total after taxes of $42 and change.
