I know at least 4 families there this year and they are all happy. Are you talking about them changing the boundaries?

We have a first-grader at HCES and have been very happy with the school. Great leadership, very strong PTA, and both of our son's teachers (K & 1st grade) have been willing to help us with recommendations on how to push his learning outside of the classroom.

As far as I know nothing has been officially announced about the boundaries. The real, more interesting boundary changes will be with Ridge Rd Middle.

What is going on with Highland Creek now. I'm relocating in July, and was considering this area for school, but I thought I read something where now there is a new elementary school and half the kids are going there? Any insight?

Yes, there is a new elementary school being built off of Johnston-Oehler Rd. I believe CMS has released the new boundary lines, but the long and short of it is this - if you want to be guaranteed to go to HCES, your best bet is to buy in Highland Creek.

Are there any new construction in Highland Creek?

I believe there may be a few townhomes still under construction, otherwise no. The quality of homes in the neighborhood is pretty good, especially the ones built pre-boom (2003 and earlier). We live in a 1997 home and it is rock-solid.

I believe there is new construction in Christenbury which is right outside of Highland Creek. It's in Cabarrus County though and the school is Cox Mill.
