Will be there for 3 days.
Are there any activities/restaurants that can keep the boy entertain for a couple hours each day? Do not feel like driving, but might consider taking taxi if there are good ones around the area.

Also, is it general safe to walk around in the downtown area at night?

Thanks,

As long as you exercise common sense and stay in areas with other people around, Uptown (as Charlotte calls its downtown) is perfectly safe. A five year old will enjoy Discovery Place, ImaginOn, Romare Bearden Park and children's programs at the main library.

Thanks for the information.
If we need to take a taxi to somewhere, is it difficult to get one with a car seat?

Great advice above. A five year old would also love a ride on the lynx light rail. Just get a round trip ticket. You could go all the way to the end, or you could get off at East/West Blvd Station and treat him to a delicious milk shake at Pike's across from the station.

Pike's Old Fashioned Soda Shop

No idea, sorry. You'll have to call them and see. I would be surprised if taxis had car seats.

Great suggestion about the light rail...I can't believe I forgot about it and Pike's!
