Obviously, those are very subjective questions. Asheville and Durham are generally considered the top "foodie" cities in NC, but I'd say Charlotte is pretty close to them. Had excellent din sum in Charlotte a couple of weekends ago...very few places in NC where one can do that.
I think Charlotte is an excellent food city...great vietnamese, mexican and indian food. Pizza and bbq aren't strong points.
Agree with the above. And it's also a great shopping city for foodies that like to cook. All kinds of markets/grocery stores to find a huge variety of things. Super G, Patel Brothers, Grand Asia, Compare etc to name a few.
All different types of foods available so making just about any dish is possible, however if you class being foodie as paying several hundred dollars for a plate of food that is supposed to be a work of art, then I would say no we are not.
But as other people have posted we have a great selection of food available from all different cultures. Also if eating out is your thing, I checked one time uptown within 1 mile of whee I work there is over 200 places to eat off all different varieties.
Uptown is indeed a varied place, with many different options for cuisine, ambiance, and price level....
I'd say we are growing in our "foodie" establishments.
One thing that I love is that there are more and more veg/an friendly places!!! Major points.
