Can anyone tell me if the Staybridge Suites on Arrowood near 77 is in an okay area? I'm coming to Charlotte on a househunting trip next month and booked a room from Hotwire, where they won't tell you the name of the place. All they said was that it was in South Park. Now that it's booked and they tell me the name, I see it's nowhere near the South Park Mall, where I assumed it would be -- it's on Arrowood near I-77. Should I be concerned? I don't know anything about this area.

Not exactly sure where the Staybridge Suites is located. We were househunting last week and stayed at the Towneplace Suites by Marriott at Arrowood and I-77. The staff was very accomodating. We made dinner most evenings in the full kitchen.
Only one "sit-down" restuarant(Ruby Tuesdays) in the area. There is also a Starbucks and a Sonic. The closest stores are Bi-Lo and Wal-Mart at Arrowood and Tyron. My husband and I went there in broad daylight and it was OK.

Just watch out after dark. It is a so-so area. Lock your doors and be street smart. You should not have any problems.

You are right. That is about 15 minutes from South Park Mall area!

GOOD LUCK!

I stayed there once, the staff was nice and the room was comfy. Nice and clean. The guests were mostly business people ... I felt safe. Dining was limited so we ate in Ballantyne and South Park.

Last summer I worked at TransUnion Settlement Solutions on Forest Point Blvd just past Staybridge Suites Hotel. A woman was raped at 11:30 in the morning on a day when the temperatures reached nearly 100 degrees. Raped in the middle of the day. She was walking past the hotel and dragged into the wooded area. That is the worst area in south Charlotte; between Arrowood Road and Westinghouse Blvd. If you stay there be VERY careful walking back and forth to your car.

If you can change your reservation, find something else.
