Why do flight tickets from and to Charlotte airport are more expensive than from and to Atlanta airport, 2 DC airports, Maryland airport and Baltimore airport?

Are the flights you're looking at direct from Charlotte and have connections at those other airports? Also, never heard of "Maryland airport."

Simple economics. American has the highest market share at CLT than any airline at any other airport. Less competition means higher prices.

Its because American Airlines (and USAIR before them) is responsible for over 90% of the flights in and out of CLT.

The hub in Charlotte offers the city a lot more flights and options than it could otherwise support. It is one of the largest airline hubs in the world, for a city that really isn't all that big.

Due to that, they can charge a premium.
